Son immense appétit de vivre porté par l'amour qu'il donnait autant qu'il recevait, son énergie communicative, son humour décapant, ses œuvres poignantes, ses projets pleins les tiroirs ont été fauchés en une nuit par une pulsion suicidaire insurmontable le rendant sourd à tout avenir.

Cette nuit-là, une étincelle a ouvert béantes ses insupportables blessures qui le meurtrissaient depuis tant d'années, anéantissant toutes les digues de bonheur qu'il avait construites avec nous.

Sous ses airs de colosse bourru, Fred était un roc doux et sensible, une oreille attentionnée, un observateur affuté et toujours des bras immenses grand ouverts dans lesquels tout cœur saignant trouvait réconfort.
