Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide at a St. Petersburg apartment complex, which left two individuals dead on Friday afternoon. The tragic incident occurred at the Parklane Condominiums located at 334 48th Ave. N.
Authorities received a call for a welfare check shortly before 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of two middle-aged individuals, identified as Callie Wright and Neville Jones, inside one of the units. A firearm was found at the scene.
"It’s very early in the investigation, but it would appear to be a murder-suicide," stated police spokesperson Ken Knight. Preliminary findings indicate that Jones was the shooter. However, Knight refrained from disclosing the exact nature of the relationship between Wright and Jones until their families could be informed.
Detectives from the police department's major crimes unit are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event. At this time, no further information has been released.
