Durham police have identified the two individuals who were tragically killed in a shooting incident in Oshawa. The victims have been named as Patrick Montgomery, 42, and Andrieana Montgomery, 42. Both were found dead at separate locations on Saturday afternoon.
Patrick Montgomery was a former Oshawa General, a role that likely made him well-known and respected within the community. Andrieana Montgomery was an arts and music teacher at Bowmanville High School, where she undoubtedly impacted many students with her passion for the arts and education.
The police were initially called to the area around 12:35 p.m. on reports of gunshots near the intersection of Jane Avenue and Glenforest Street, close to Fernhill Boulevard and Rossland Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Patrick Montgomery, who had been shot. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported to the hospital.
Following this, the police received additional information that led them to another address on Glenforest Street. There, they found Andrieana Montgomery inside the home, where she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A suspect, identified as 30-year-old Mark Gordon of Oshawa, was arrested at the second location without incident. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Police have indicated that Gordon knew both victims, but they have clarified that this was not a domestic incident. The motive behind these senseless killings is still under investigation.
