Obituary, Death: Jeremiah Thomas Death -Jeremiah Thomas Killed In Car Accident

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Jeremiah Thomas, who was tragically killed in a car accident on July 15, 2024. Jeremiah, affectionately known as "JT" to his family and friends, was a beloved son, brother, and friend. He was only 27 years old.


Born on April 23, 1997, in Springfield, Illinois, Jeremiah grew up with a passion for life that was evident to everyone who knew him. He attended Lincoln High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically, particularly in basketball and track. 

His dedication and spirit earned him a scholarship to the University of Illinois, where he majored in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, Jeremiah pursued a career in automotive design, a field where he could blend his love for cars and his technical skills.

Jeremiah was known for his infectious smile, his kind heart, and his unwavering optimism. He had a unique ability to lift the spirits of those around him, always offering a helping hand and a listening ear. His friends often described him as the glue that held their group together, always organizing get-togethers and ensuring that everyone felt included.

Family was of utmost importance to Jeremiah. He leaves behind his parents, Michael and Angela Thomas, and his younger sister, Lily, who was his pride and joy. He was a devoted son and brother, always putting his family first and making countless memories with them that will be cherished forever.

Jeremiah's sudden departure has left a void that cannot be filled. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his generosity, his laughter, and his love. The community mourns the loss of such a bright and promising individual.

A memorial service to celebrate Jeremiah's life will be held on July 21, 2024, at St. Mark's Church in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jeremiah Thomas Memorial Fund, which will support youth programs and scholarships in his honor.
