The tragic incident occurred early Monday at Mumbai's Nariman Point, where Lipi Rastogi, the 27-year-old daughter of an IAS couple, took her own life.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded while others in the IAS officers' government residence in Suniti, near Mantralaya, were asleep.
Lipi, who was pursuing an LLB degree at OP Jindal Global University, had concerns about her academic performance. Previously, she earned her BA from St Xavier College in Mumbai.
Her LinkedIn profile indicated her transition from a marketing professional, specializing in luxe beauty brands, to pursuing law. The police have the suicide note in their possession, and Lipi's remains are at the hospital pending postmortem.
The Cuffe Parade police have initiated an accidental death investigation to determine if any foul play was involved.
Tragically, this incident echoes a similar tragedy in 2017 when the 18-year-old son of Maharashtra-cadre IAS officers Milind and Manisha Mhaiskar took his own life in a Malabar Hill high rise.
