Brad Knapp, the visionary behind Knapptronix Brewing Co., has sadly passed away. Born on April 3, 1978, to Michael Glenn and Karen Knapp (née Diehl), Brad's life was marked by his passion for family, sports, and brewing. He grew up in Lafayette, Indiana, where he became a fervent Purdue Boilermaker fan and attended Jefferson High School. There, he excelled both academically and athletically, becoming a standout scholar-athlete in basketball and baseball.
Brad's academic journey led him to Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 2001. His engineering career spanned 23 years, during which he not only honed his technical skills but also sparked a lifelong passion for craft brewing. Using homebrew kits, Brad's chemistry knowledge and creative flair led him through years of experimentation, culminating in the realization of his dream: the establishment of Knapptronix Brewing Company in October 2021.
Knapptronix Brewing Co. quickly became a testament to Brad's dedication and enthusiasm for craft brewing. His innovative beer flavors and engaging personality drew in patrons and fellow beer enthusiasts alike. Brad's infectious love for brewing was evident to anyone who spoke with him, but his greatest devotion was reserved for his family.
Brad was a beloved father to his four children: Caleb, Aubrey, Paloma, and Palmer. He cherished every moment spent with them, from attending school events to supporting their athletic pursuits. Known for his unmatched sense of humor and lively personality, Brad was not just the life of the party—he was the party. His friends and family fondly recall his antics and the joy he brought to every gathering.
In addition to his brewing and family activities, Brad loved spending time at Wrigley Field for Chicago Cubs games, playing pickup sports, and enjoying boating on the lake. He was a familiar face at Purdue tailgates, where his spirit and energy were as constant as his Boilermaker pride.
Brad's legacy is one of passion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. His life serves as a reminder that no obstacle is too great when it comes to family, and no dream too distant with dedication and creativity. Brad Knapp's impact on the craft brewing community and those who knew him will be felt for years to come.
He leaves behind a rich legacy in both his personal and professional life, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette.
