Skyway Bridge Accident Today : Multi-vehicle collision shuts down QEW through Burlington

A significant multi-vehicle collision unfolded on the Burlington Skyway path of the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) this afternoon, May 22, resulting in the closure of all lanes bound for Toronto. According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the incident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. in the lanes leading up to the apex of the bridge.

Emergency response teams swiftly arrived at the scene, as reports indicated that several vehicles involved had caught fire. At this point, the extent of injuries remains uncertain.

As a consequence of the closure, traffic diversions have been implemented, redirecting vehicles away from the QEW. Consequently, traffic snarls have emerged along neighboring routes in both Hamilton and Burlington.

The OPP has cautioned that the clearance of the accident site may be a protracted process, hinting at potential hours before normal traffic flow can resume. Motorists are strongly advised to steer clear of the affected area to avoid enduring lengthy delays.
