Loughborough Stabbing Today : Update on New Parks murder inquiry after teen stabbed

This afternoon in Leicester, sections of New Parks remained sealed off as officers from Leicestershire Police continued their investigation into a fatal stabbing that occurred yesterday. Tragically, an 18-year-old man lost his life in the incident.


Emergency services, including the air ambulance, responded to the scene on Glazebrook Road shortly before 1:15 pm yesterday. Despite their efforts, the young man succumbed to his injuries, and several hours later, police announced multiple arrests.

Currently, two 17-year-old boys are in custody, arrested on suspicion of murder. Additionally, a 36-year-old male, another 17-year-old male, and a 38-year-old woman were detained on suspicion of violent disorder. All five individuals remain in police custody. Furthermore, a 52-year-old male, apprehended on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released pending further investigation.

A spokesperson for the police emphasized that scene preservations are in effect on Glazebrook Road and Gillman Road. Detectives continue their inquiries in the area, supported by officers from the West Leicester Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA) who are conducting reassurance patrols.

Authorities urge witnesses to the incident to come forward. Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) major crime team, stressed the importance of any information, including doorbell, CCTV, or dashcam footage. He emphasized that even seemingly insignificant details could be crucial to the investigation and urged witnesses to contact the police promptly.
