Firetruck gets hit twice while on scene of Fremont accident

On Saturday morning, chaos unfolded in Fremont as the Fremont Fire Department found themselves battling not only a car accident but also unexpected collisions while trying to render aid.

It all began when a call came in just after 7 a.m., directing firefighters to a car accident on northbound I-680, located south of the Andrade exit.

Arriving swiftly, their priority was to safeguard the scene and assist any injured individuals.

As they attended to the patient involved in the initial accident, the situation took a harrowing turn.

Two separate cars collided with the fire truck, not once, but twice, amid the already tense environment.

The reverberations of these impacts sent shockwaves through the team, yet they maintained their composure, prioritizing the safety of all involved.

Miraculously, amidst the chaos, the firefighters emerged unscathed. However, one of the drivers responsible for striking the fire engine suffered minor injuries and required transportation to a nearby hospital via Falck ambulance.

While the physical damage to the fire truck, identified as Engine 59, was significant enough to warrant towing, the resolve of the firefighters remained steadfast.

In the face of adversity, the Fremont Fire Department swiftly adapted, implementing contingency plans by deploying a reserve fire engine to ensure continuous service to the community.

Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol commenced an investigation to unravel the mysteries surrounding the cause of these unexpected collisions.

This sequence of events serves as a poignant reminder of the unpredictable nature of emergency response work and the inherent risks faced by first responders.

Despite the challenges encountered, the unwavering dedication of the Fremont Fire Department to protect and serve shines brightly, a testament to their professionalism and resilience in the face of adversity.
