In the early hours of Saturday morning, a Clemson University student found themselves in a harrowing situation, as they were airlifted for medical treatment following a motor vehicle crash on Old Stone Church Road.
The incident prompted a swift response from the Clemson University Police Department and Clemson University Fire & EMS Department.
Davis Simpson, the public safety communications director at Clemson University, reported that officers were dispatched to the LaMaster Dairy Center at 12:20 a.m. after a vehicle collided with a fence.
The student, who was driving the vehicle, suffered severe injuries and was ejected from the vehicle, necessitating the need for airlifting to the hospital.
Fortunately, the other passenger involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries.
The Clemson community was promptly notified of the accident at 12:46 a.m. through a CU Alert, advising individuals to avoid the area due to the traffic collision.
Approximately two and a half hours later, an all-clear alert was issued, signaling the end of the road closure.
At present, the Clemson City Police Department is actively investigating the crash, seeking to uncover the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident.
