Oliver Charles Deer Park Obituary, Dymond A. Saunders Death: 2 Teens Killed In Rollover Crash On Southern State: Police

ISLIP, NY — A tragic car accident claimed the lives of two teenagers on the Southern State Parkway early Thursday morning, according to local authorities.


The incident occurred when a tan 2010 Toyota Prius, which was transporting five individuals, overturned on the eastbound side of the Southern State Parkway near exit 43A in the Town of Islip. 

State Troopers responded to the scene and discovered the vehicle resting on the shoulder amidst the trees.

Tragically, 18-year-old Oliver Charles from Deer Park and 17-year-old Dymond A. Saunders from West Babylon were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. 

The police have confirmed their identities and stated that both were passengers in the ill-fated vehicle.

The other three occupants of the car were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals, where they received treatment for injuries that, fortunately, were not life-threatening. 

The identities of these individuals have not been released, and it remains unclear who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Details about the cause of the accident are still under investigation. Authorities have not disclosed whether factors such as speed, weather conditions, or possible driver impairment played a role. 

The Southern State Parkway, known for its high traffic and narrow lanes, has been the site of numerous accidents in the past, raising concerns about road safety.

The community is left mourning the loss of two young lives. Oliver Charles, remembered by friends and family as a bright and kind-hearted individual, had just graduated from high school and was looking forward to starting college in the fall. 

Dymond A. Saunders, equally beloved, was known for her vibrant personality and dedication to her studies and extracurricular activities.
