TCS Employee Suicide - Mamta Kadam Obituary - Tata Consultancy Services Employee Mamta Kadam Dies At Marine Drive After Sending Farewell Message

Mumbai: TCS Employee Mamta Kadam Allegedly Commits Suicide at Marine Drive

Mamta Kadam, a 23-year-old employee of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), reportedly committed suicide at Marine Drive after sending a WhatsApp message to a close friend.

Preliminary investigations revealed that before taking her own life, Kadam sent a lengthy message to her close friend via WhatsApp, with her final text reading "Bye Bye."

According to the Marine Drive police, Kadam, a resident of Andheri, left her home around 8:30 a.m. as usual, ostensibly heading to her office in Kalina. However, instead of going to work, she went to Marine Drive.

Upon reaching Marine Drive, she sat on the parapet wall opposite Hotel Continental, placed her office laptop on the promenade, and removed her gold earrings, placing them in her bag. At approximately 10:45 a.m., she suddenly jumped into the sea. Despite the presence of tetrapods, the waves pulled her away from the coast.

An unidentified citizen saw her struggling in the water and alerted the police control room. The police quickly responded and informed the fire brigade. In a joint operation, a fire brigade staffer, wearing a life-jacket and tied with a rope held by his colleagues, jumped into the rough sea to rescue her.

Unfortunately, by the time the rescuer reached her, Kadam had already swallowed a considerable amount of seawater and was dead. Her body was found some distance from the promenade.

"The body was retrieved at 11:20 a.m. and taken to G.T. Hospital at Dhobi Talao, where doctors pronounced her deceased," said Nilesh Bagul, senior inspector at Marine Drive police station.

Sources indicated that Kadam had been working as an associate at TCS for the past six months. She was engaged to be married soon, and her family was informed of her death by the police.

The Marine Drive police have filed an accidental death report (ADR) and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death.
