Suz Smolikhagen Obituary - Suz Smolikhagen Cause of Death - Waverly-Shell Rock Elementary Principal Suz Smolikhagen Dies

It’s with a heavy heart that we share this news with the Waverly-Shell Rock community. Suz Smolikhagen, our beloved elementary principal, passed away yesterday.

Suz joined Waverly-Shell Rock as the elementary principal at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year. Prior to her role as principal, she made significant contributions to our district as a coach and an AEA Team Representative.

Suz’s commitment to education and her dedication to our students were evident in every aspect of her work. She was not just a leader but a mentor, a colleague, and a friend to many. Her impact on our school community has been profound, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working with her.

We understand that this news is both shocking and difficult to process. Suz touched many lives throughout her career in education, and her loss is felt deeply by students, staff, and parents alike.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Suz’s family and loved ones during this incredibly challenging time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and we offer our unwavering support.

For those on our staff who worked closely with Suz, please know that you are not alone in your grief. Suz was a cherished colleague, and it is natural to feel a range of emotions in the wake of such a loss.

Parents of Waverly-Shell Rock students may be seeking guidance on how to discuss this loss with their children. The impact of Suz’s death may vary depending on your child’s age, how well they knew her, and their previous experiences with grief.

It is important to approach the conversation with sensitivity and care. Younger children may need reassurance and simple explanations, while older children might benefit from a more open dialogue where they can express their feelings and ask questions. Encouraging your child to share their thoughts and providing a supportive environment can help them navigate their emotions.

Suz Smolikhagen’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched throughout her career. Her dedication to education, her compassion for her students, and her unwavering support for her colleagues have left an indelible mark on our community.

As we come together to mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the incredible impact she had on our lives and the countless ways she made Waverly-Shell Rock a better place for all.
