It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ryan Ballantyne, a cherished son, brother, and friend, who left us unexpectedly on July 7, 2024. Ryan was a beloved member of the Ontario community, known for his kind heart, infectious smile, and unwavering support for those around him.

Ryan was born on April 15, 1992, in Ontario, Canada. He grew up in a loving family, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the close-knit community of his hometown. Ryan attended Maple Ridge High School, where he excelled in academics and athletics, particularly in soccer and hockey. 

His love for sports continued into his college years at Ontario University, where he studied environmental science and played for the university's hockey team.


After graduating, Ryan dedicated his career to environmental conservation. He worked with several local and national organizations, striving to protect Ontario's natural resources and promote sustainable practices. 

His passion for the environment was evident in everything he did, from organizing community clean-ups to advocating for policy changes. Ryan's commitment to making the world a better place was unwavering and deeply admired by his colleagues and friends.

Ryan's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted son to his parents, John and Mary Ballantyne, and a loving brother to his siblings, Emily and Michael. 

Ryan was also a doting uncle to his niece and nephew, always making time to play with them and share his love of nature. His friends remember him as someone who was always there to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or simply listen.

Ryan's passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew him. He tragically lost his life in a car accident on July 7, 2024. The news of his untimely death has left his family, friends, and community in deep mourning.

Ryan's legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and a deep love for the environment. His work in environmental conservation has left a lasting impact, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to carry on his mission. Ryan's life was a testament to the power of dedication and the importance of caring for our planet and each other.

A celebration of Ryan's life will be held on July 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Maple Ridge Community Center. Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather and share their memories of Ryan. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ontario Environmental Foundation in Ryan's name, to continue his work in protecting the natural world he loved so much.

Ryan Ballantyne will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the natural beauty of the world he worked so hard to preserve.
