There is deep consternation among the emergency services following the tragic death of a 37-year-old woman, which occurred on Monday afternoon at the water level of Grand Lac Squatec in Bas-Saint-Laurent.
Lucie Sénéchal, who was a dedicated 911 operator at the Emergency Call Center of the Eastern Regions of Quebec (CAUREQ), lost her life under circumstances that have profoundly affected her colleagues and the wider community.
Lucie was known for her professionalism and commitment to helping those in distress. Her sudden passing has left a void within the CAUREQ team, who are grappling with the loss of a valued member of their emergency response family.
The incident has also brought to light the critical and often stressful nature of the work performed by 911 operators, who serve as the first point of contact for individuals in emergencies.
