Joseph L. Palumbo, age 72, of Elmwood Park, a distinguished businessman, successful land developer, and visionary, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2024, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on April 18, 1952, to the late Peter A. Palumbo and the late Irene Ann Palumbo.

 

Joseph graduated from Holy Cross High School and Bradley University, where he laid the foundation for a successful career as a business owner and land developer. His professional life was marked by visionary projects that significantly impacted the community and beyond. Joe's ability to foresee potential and transform ideas into reality earned him a reputation as a leading figure in his field.

Beyond his professional achievements, Joe was known for his vibrant personality and generous spirit. He loved music and enjoyed hosting gatherings with his beloved friends and family. His home was a place of warmth and inclusivity, where everyone felt welcomed. Joe's generous heart and his knack for making others feel special will be remembered by all who had the honor of sharing a toast with him.

Joe will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Virginia (nee De Salvo), and their devoted family. He was the cherished father of Christina (Jason) Loeffler, Terra (John) Nazha, Irene Palumbo, Patricia (Michael) Katsenios, Peter (Natina) Palumbo, Joseph (Cara) Palumbo, and Jenna (Reece) Raethke. He was the fond grandfather of Brayden, Payten, Bria, and Preslie Loeffler, Joseph and Johnny Nazha, Theodore, Michael, and Joseph Katsenios, Valentina and Gianna Palumbo, Atlas Raethke, and Sofia Palumbo. Joe was also the dear brother of Sebastian Samuel (Mary) Palumbo, and the fond nephew of Sam "Junior" (Judy) Palumbo and the late Marie (the late Gus) Renella. Additionally, he was a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather for the visitation on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels, 4500 Roosevelt Road, Illinois 60162 (located between Mannheim and Wolf Road). A funeral service will follow on Saturday, July 13, 2024, with a one-hour visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Russo’s Hillside Chapels. A Chapel Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated promptly at 10:00 a.m. Interment will remain private.
