A tragic incident unfolded at the Alderwood Mall food court in Lynnwood on Wednesday evening, resulting in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old girl. 


According to Lynnwood police, the altercation began around 6:04 p.m. between two groups of individuals. 
During the confrontation, a 16-year-old boy from Edmonds brandished a firearm and discharged it towards the opposing group. 

Tragically, the bullet struck Jayda Woods-Johnson, a 13-year-old girl who was uninvolved in the conflict and had no connections to either group.

The unexpected violence has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many in disbelief and mourning the senseless loss of a young life. 

The police quickly launched an investigation and began searching for the shooter. Later in the evening, the 16-year-old suspect was brought into a police station by his mother. He is currently in custody and faces charges of murder.
