Indian Head Highway Accident - Woman dead, 2 drivers hospitalized after 4-vehicle crash in Prince George's County

A tragic accident occurred in Friendly, Maryland, on Friday evening, resulting in the death of a woman and the hospitalization of two drivers. 


According to Prince George’s County police, officers were dispatched to the scene near Fort Washington Road and Indian Head Highway at approximately 6:15 p.m. following reports of a collision involving four vehicles.

Upon their arrival, officers found that one of the drivers, a woman, had succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending notification of their families.

Two other drivers involved in the crash were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. A fourth driver remained at the scene and did not sustain any injuries.

The collision led to significant disruptions in traffic, as authorities closed both the northbound and southbound lanes of Indian Head Highway between East Swan Creek Road and Old Fort Road. As of 7:45 p.m., these closures were still in effect, and motorists were advised to seek alternative routes.

Investigators are actively working to determine the circumstances that led to the crash. Details about how the accident occurred are currently unclear, and it has not been disclosed whether any charges will be filed or if factors such as speed, alcohol, or distracted driving played a role.
