Born on November 25, 2020, Genevieve Blair Yakimetz of Vegreville, Alberta, Canada tragically passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the tender age of 3, leaving a profound void in the hearts of her family and community.
Genevieve is survived by her devoted father, Michael, and her adoring big brothers, Drayson and Dallin. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Courtney.
Genevieve's memory will be cherished by her grandparents Connie & Rob, Fred & Debbie, and Arlene & Brian, as well as her great-grandmother Barb. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly.
A Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vegreville, Alberta. Very Rev. Don Bodnar will officiate the service, providing solace to those gathered to mourn Genevieve's passing. Following the liturgy, Genevieve will be laid to rest at Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery – New Kiew, a peaceful final resting place.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to support cancer awareness in memory of Genevieve's mother, Courtney. Contributions can be sent via e-transfer to courtzmemory@gmail.com, directed towards the Warrior Project, or donated directly to "New Kiew Parish." This gesture honors both Genevieve's memory and her mother's legacy of fighting against cancer.
As the community comes together to mourn the loss of Genevieve, they also celebrate the joy and love she brought during her brief yet impactful life. Her spirit will continue to inspire and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
