Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson tragically lost his life in a car crash early Saturday morning in Maryland. He was 24 years old. The fatal accident occurred just before 3:15 a.m. in Prince George’s County and involved three vehicles, according to a state police news release.
Jackson was the front passenger in a maroon Dodge Charger, traveling with Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Lytton, 24. Hazel, who was driving the Charger, and Jackson were pronounced dead at the scene. Lytton was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the driver of a silver Infiniti as Cori Clingman. Clingman was traveling northbound on Route 4 when she attempted to change lanes at a high rate of speed. The Infiniti collided with the Dodge Charger and subsequently struck a Chevrolet Impala.
The impact of the crash forced the Charger off the road, causing it to hit multiple tree stumps before coming to a halt. Clingman and her two passengers in the Infiniti were uninjured. The driver of the Impala also escaped without injury and refused medical treatment at the scene.
State police are continuing to investigate the crash, with authorities noting that charges are pending the results of the investigation and consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.
