Chase Garvey Florence KY Obituary - Chase Garvey Death - 4 Dead, 3 Injured In Deadly Birthday Mass Shooting

Kentucky families are grieving Monday after a mass shooting in Florence over the weekend at a birthday party resulted in the deaths of four individuals. The tragic event occurred during a celebration for a young man's 21st birthday, forever altering the lives of those in attendance and their families.

One of the surviving victims, 19-year-old Chloe Parrett, is a student at Eastern Kentucky University. Chloe was shot in the chest early Saturday morning at her brother’s birthday party. Among the deceased was her mother, Melissa Parrett, who tragically lost her life while trying to save Chloe.

Chloe is currently in a Cincinnati hospital, recovering from her serious injuries. Her father, Bruce Parrett, expressed profound gratitude for Melissa's heroic actions, despite the heartbreaking outcome. Bruce, who was not present at the party, received a devastating call at 3 a.m. and rushed to the scene, only a few miles from his home.

“I parked at the top of the street and ran down to the house, ran down in the house where I saw all of the carnage of a scene no human being should ever have to witness in their life,” Bruce Parrett recounted. “I thought that I saw Chloe deceased in a corner; I thought Chloe was gone.”

Amidst the chaos, Bruce initially did not realize that his ex-wife Melissa had been killed. It was only when he saw Chloe being loaded onto a gurney and taken away in an ambulance that he felt a bittersweet sense of relief, hearing her first words after the ordeal.

The shooter, identified as 21-year-old Chase Garvey, fled the scene but later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This incident marks the first mass shooting reported in Florence, a community now grappling with the aftermath of such senseless violence.

The three other survivors of the shooting are still hospitalized but are expected to recover. In the wake of the tragedy, friends and family members have set up GoFundMe accounts to support the victims’ families.

Among these are campaigns titled "Help Brendon’s Family Overcome Crisis," "Support Claire’s Recovery and Stability," "Shane Miller, one of the kindest, sweetest, most loving kid," and "Support for Delaney’s Family in Tragedy."

As the community mourns, these efforts aim to provide financial assistance and emotional support to those affected by this heartbreaking event.
