In a devastating incident early Sunday morning, a house fire in Necedah claimed the lives of three adults and three children. The tragedy has left the small community in mourning and has prompted an outpouring of support for the victims' families.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to a home on Morros Mile Road following reports of a house fire with residents still inside. Upon arrival, responders found several individuals in the driveway, but it was quickly discovered that six people remained trapped inside the burning home. Despite the swift efforts of the fire crews, the intensity of the blaze made rescue efforts exceedingly difficult.
For three hours, firefighters battled the inferno, working tirelessly to extinguish the flames. Their efforts continued for a total of 12 hours, ensuring the fire was completely out and that the scene was secure. Tragically, the fire claimed the lives of six individuals, whose loss has deeply affected the community.
Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod President Mark Schroeder issued a heartfelt notice expressing the organization's grief over the loss of the six individuals. Among the deceased was Pastor Steve Witte, a respected pastor and missionary in Thailand, whose dedication to his faith and community was widely recognized.
