Robert Anderson Wexford Obituary : Robert Anderson Cause of Death: Central Catholic High School Robert Anderson Electrocuted While Bicycling In North Park

A veteran teacher at Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA, tragically lost his life after encountering downed power lines while bicycling in North Park on Tuesday evening.


Identified as Robert Anderson, a dedicated educator and avid cyclist, he had taught physical education and health at the school in Oakland since 2005. 

Emergency responders discovered him amidst the wires following severe storms that swept through the area on Monday.

Anderson, 63, residing in Wexford, was pronounced dead at the scene near Pearce Mill Road close to Olympia Grove. 

Central Catholic High School issued a statement the following day, reflecting on Anderson's impactful tenure and commitment to promoting student health and wellness.

“Throughout his tenure at our school, Mr. Anderson played a crucial role in educating students on personal health and wellness. 

Dedicated to his students and the mission of Central Catholic, Mr. Anderson was a valued member of our school community. 

We are deeply saddened by his passing, and our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Anderson’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the school expressed on its Facebook page.

The community at Central Catholic mourns his loss deeply, recognizing his integral role within the school's fabric. 

Allegheny County police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Anderson's tragic death.

Authorities reported that the trail had been closed earlier on Tuesday morning due to reports of downed wires and smoke. 

Prompt notification was made to Duquesne Light Company around 8:50 a.m., and caution tape was subsequently deployed at the trail's main entrance.

Duquesne Light Company has confirmed its awareness of the downed lines and expressed condolences to Anderson's family while initiating an investigation into the incident.
