Murfreesboro TN Murder Suicide : Margarette Barksdale Killed, James Shannon Shot Himself : Obituary & Death

A tragic incident unfolded Thursday evening in Murfreesboro, where a man shot and killed his girlfriend before taking his own life at a townhome, as reported by the police.


The Murfreesboro Police Department is actively investigating the incident, which resulted in the deaths of 37-year-old Margarette Barksdale and 29-year-old James Shannon. 

Authorities responded to a 911 call from neighbors and discovered the couple in an upstairs bedroom of a townhome located on Nightshade Drive around 8 p.m. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to preliminary investigations, it appears that Shannon shot Barksdale following a domestic altercation before turning the gun on himself. The police department continues to probe the circumstances surrounding the shooting, aiming to piece together the events that led to this tragic outcome.
