The accident occurred around 3:15 p.m. when Max was crossing 179th Street (County Road 9). As he traversed the intersection, a vehicle traveling westbound struck his scooter. The intersection at Granby Lane has stop signs for north and southbound traffic, but none for vehicles traveling east or west on 179th Street, according to Lakeville police.
Max was immediately rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) with critical injuries. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, his brain injuries were so severe that he will not survive.
