A 31-year-old passenger died on Sunday following an early-morning crash on Route 9 in Middlesex County, authorities reported.
Old Bridge police responded to the area of Route 9 and Ferry Road at approximately 1:05 a.m. after receiving a report of a car crash, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
At least two vehicles were involved in the collision: a Mustang with four occupants and a BMW with one passenger, as stated in the release.
The BMW passenger, Kristina Godich, 31, of Manalapan, died at the scene, the prosecutor’s office confirmed. The driver of the BMW was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and remains in critical condition.
The four occupants of the Mustang were also transported to a local hospital and are in stable condition, authorities reported.
Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash. All other drivers and occupants involved were treated at the scene and released.
