It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jesse Sala, a distinguished student of Robert Morris University, who left us on Monday, June 10, 2024, at the tender age of 21. Jesse's untimely departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on August 17, 2002, in Barberena Santa Rosa, Guatemala, Jesse was the cherished son of John E. Sala, Jr. and his fiancée, Gami-Lou Beli of New Eagle, and Jackie DeBlassio Sala of Long Branch. He spent his formative years growing up in the close-knit communities of his parents, fostering strong ties and deep connections.

Jesse's academic journey was marked by excellence from an early age. A proud graduate of Ringgold High School, he completed his studies with honors in 2021, a testament to his unwavering commitment to education and personal growth. During his time at Ringgold, Jesse formed lifelong friendships and cherished his time with his Dairy Queen crew in Charleroi, where he was known for his warmth, kindness, and impeccable work ethic.

As a rising senior at Robert Morris University, Jesse Sala was more than just a student; he was a beacon of leadership, dedication, and inspiration. His presence on campus was nothing short of remarkable, and his contributions were manifold. Jesse's academic prowess was complemented by his exceptional involvement in campus life. He served as the President of the Residence Hall Association, Vice President of the Class of 2025, and Lead Community Advisor with the Office of Residence Life. These roles showcased his unparalleled dedication to creating a vibrant and inclusive community for his peers.

Jesse's commitment to excellence extended beyond his leadership roles. He was an active member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the Association of Future Accountants, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and the RMU Honors Program. His passion for his studies and his drive to succeed were evident to all who crossed his path, making a lasting impact on both his professors and fellow students.

Jesse's legacy is one of profound impact and heartfelt connections. His ability to inspire and lead was matched only by his kindness and generosity. The Robert Morris University community mourns the loss of a shining star, whose light will continue to guide and inspire long after his passing.

As we remember Jesse Sala, let us celebrate his life and the incredible achievements he accomplished in his short time with us. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit will continue to inspire future generations of students.

Friends will be received Friday, June 14, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, 427 W Main Street, Monongahela. Funeral prayers will be recited on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 9:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela with the Revs. Kevin Dominik and Thomas Kadlick co-celebrating. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
