HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – In a shocking incident following Uniondale Charter School’s graduation, five masked men attacked two individuals outside Hofstra University's David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Long Island.
The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. and was reported by FOX 5 NY's Jodi Goldberg.
According to a source, the attackers specifically targeted an adult guest attending the graduation ceremony.
The adult victim suffered a leg slash, while a student graduate, who knew the adult, was slashed in the ear.
Academy Charter High Schools, the institution affiliated with the graduation, stated that the attack is believed to be connected to a domestic dispute.
In their statement, they emphasized the security measures in place during the graduation, noting that all attendees passed through magnetometers, and clarified that the attack took place outside the event venue.
"Our security team is cooperating with Nassau County Police and Hofstra Public Safety officers," the statement read. Both victims were promptly transported for medical treatment and are expected to survive.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, and the situation is developing.
