George Rouman Rhinelander WI Obituary : George Rouman Death : Rouman Amusement Company President George Rouman Killed In Car Accident near Tomahawk

Late Sunday night in Skanawan, tragedy struck as a two-vehicle crash claimed one life and left another individual injured. At around 10:55 p.m. on June 9, reports flooded in via 911 calls, detailing the collision situated north of Tamarack Lane.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a silver SUV overturned on the roadway, its driver, a 20-year-old woman from Crandon, trapped within the vehicle. Meanwhile, a white utility van, driven by a 51-year-old man from Rhinelander, lay nearby, with the driver also trapped inside.

Tragically, the van's driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and a dog in the SUV also perished. Despite the dire circumstances, emergency crews successfully extricated the woman from the SUV. Investigations into the incident revealed that the SUV, traveling south on Highway 51, lost control for reasons yet unknown.

Subsequently, the vehicle careened through the median and collided with the utility van, which was traveling north. Following the accident, Highway 51 was temporarily closed but reopened to traffic the following Monday morning.

In an unrelated event, George Rouman, esteemed President of Rouman Amusement Company, Inc. and owner of Fun Factory Sweet Shoppe, passed away. Known for his kindness and dedication to his community, George was a prominent figure in various organizations, including his role as former President of the National Association of Theater Owners-Wisconsin/Upper Michigan and his involvement as Co-Chairman at Geneva Convention and Human Resources.

A graduate of Rhinelander High School, George pursued further education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he earned his degree in Business, Management, and Marketing.

Fondly remembered for his warm spirit, George's gelato cart from Fun Factory Sweet Shoppe was a cherished highlight at Nathan and Anna's wedding last summer. His presence and contributions will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
