Bodybuilder Douglas Fruchey has been found dead at his apartment in Los Angeles, having passed suddenly at the age of 36. Fruchey had emerged as a popular figure within the bodybuilding scene in recent years. Tragically, the 2021 Mexico Supershow Champion's body was discovered in his home, prompting an outpouring of tributes from the bodybuilding community and beyond.


The tributes were led by fellow bodybuilder Brad Rowe, who took to social media to post a heartfelt video and lengthy caption in honor of Fruchey. "The world lost a good man yesterday @douglasfruchey," he wrote. "Doug was a client, a peer, and a friend for almost a decade. 

He was a caring and humble human. Always seeking knowledge, always sharing his whenever he could, and always genuinely interested in how you were doing."

Rowe further revealed that he was aware of Fruchey's previous mental health struggles, highlighting Fruchey's openness about his battles. "I don't know all the details, but I do know that Doug had his inner battles," he added. 

"He was very open with his past struggles and always seeking a healthy path to overcome. The last week I have been meaning to make a post about Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. This certainly isn't how I was expecting to make it. Men- you are not alone. You are not a burden. You are enough. You are loved."

Fruchey's passing was confirmed by his wife Carli on Saturday, who posted a poignant statement on social media. Sharing a number of photos of the pair together, she wrote on Instagram: "Rest peacefully my sweet Moosey." Her tribute underscored the deep personal loss felt by those closest to Fruchey.

Chris “Boar” Bell, a friend and gym partner, was left heartbroken by Fruchey's sudden passing. He reminisced about his memories of Fruchey in his tribute, emphasizing the profound impact Fruchey had on those around him. 

"Doug was my inspiration in the gym when I was at Gold’s. I introduced him to my brother and they became good friends too. My brother had him on the podcast several times because he was so full of wisdom," Bell wrote. "The world is going to miss Big Doug. I really love that guy. If anyone wants a look into his life and who he was, look for the bodybuilding episode of Soft White Underbelly. His episode was fantastic. RIP Big Doug."

Fruchey's death has cast a shadow over the bodybuilding community, with many mourning the loss of a beloved figure who had contributed significantly to the sport. His legacy, marked by his achievements and the lives he touched, will continue to resonate with those who knew him and admired his dedication and spirit.
