Thomas Weeks Mooresville NC Obituary : Thomas Weeks Death From Shooting : Procession for fallen Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks Jr

procession honoring the late U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks is underway from the medical examiner's office in Charlotte to the Calvin Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville.

Interstate 77, spanning from the I-85 interchange, will be temporarily closed as the procession travels to Mooresville. Authorities estimate the closure to last approximately an hour, with the road reopening after the procession exits the highway.

Weeks, 48, tragically lost his life during a standoff in east Charlotte, where he was one of four officers killed in the line of duty. Based in the Western District of North Carolina as part of the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force, Weeks resided in Mooresville, a northern suburb of Charlotte.

With 13 years of service in the U.S. Marshals Service, the last decade of which he spent in Charlotte, Weeks had previously served eight years with Customs and Border Protection before joining in 2011. His dedication to duty was evident as he was executing an arrest warrant for Terry Clark Hughes Jr. when he was fatally shot.

Survived by his wife and four children, Weeks leaves behind a legacy of service and commitment. Hughes Jr., the suspect, was killed by law enforcement during the encounter. Investigations revealed his extensive criminal background and outstanding warrants from Lincoln County.
