Shawn Young Elwood Indiana Obituary : Shawn Young Death : Man, 21, killed in trench collapse at Noblesville construction site

An individual who was 21 years old and was found to be trapped in a collapsed trench at a construction site in Noblesville on Monday morning has been pronounced deceased, as stated by the authorities.

At approximately 9:45 in the morning, rescue workers from the Noblesville Fire Department were sent to the location in the 14600 block of Umber Avenue when the incident occurred. According to Trevor Hash, the chief of the division, they discovered the man buried up to his shoulders, and he gave no sign of being conscious.

It was approximately eight feet deep and four feet wide when the trench collapsed, according to Hash, and the man was in the process of laying a water line. The rescue workers were able to pull the man out of the ditch after around two hours of labour.

At the scene, he was cited as having passed away. The man was identified as Shawn Young, who was from Elwood, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy will be performed by the coroner's office in order to ascertain the cause of death and ways in which Young passed away. According to Hash, the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration will conduct an investigation to determine what ultimately led to the collapse of the trench.

Performing construction work in trenches can be hazardous, and rescue operations in trenches can also be hazardous, according to the official from the fire department. As a result of the fact that it takes time to shore up the walls during a rescue operation, the primary concern is that the rescue workers may become trapped in a secondary collapse.

"Trenches are very, very dangerous." A worker on a building site in Shelby County, Tennessee, passed away in 2022 after falling into a trench and becoming trapped below. The trench was located on the construction site.

Additionally, in the year 2022, a construction worker managed to live despite becoming trapped in a trench on the east side of Indianapolis at the time.
