Yesterday, the swimming community mourned the loss of a brave soul as UF Club swimmer Kate Kaplan, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, succumbed to her battle with ovarian cancer. Despite her personal struggles, Kate exhibited remarkable courage, competing at the November Collegiate meet where she triumphed in the 100 breaststroke, all while facing cancer head-on.


Kate was a second-year student at the University of Florida and an active member of the Beta Tau chapter of Sigma Kappa. Her bravery and resilience will serve as an enduring source of inspiration for us all.

From her early years with the cyclones at the tender age of four, Kate's remarkable talents and vibrant spirit have made a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
