Juliano Santana Acton MA Suicide : Juliano Santana Death : Apparent Murder-Suicide Under Investigation in Acton

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Acton Chief of Police James Cogan have confirmed an ongoing investigation into a suspected murder-suicide that took place today in Acton.

Around 4:00 p.m., Acton Police received a report of the apparent abduction of a 16-year-old girl by her stepfather, Juliano Santana, 49. The police contacted Santana's probation officer, who used a GPS monitoring device, required due to a pending case in Middlesex Superior Court, to determine his location.

Officers responded to a parking lot on Great Road, outside the victim’s residence. There, they found both Santana and the victim dead from apparent gunshot wounds inside Santana’s vehicle. The investigation indicates that Santana abducted the victim as she walked on Great Road near her home after school, then later shot her before taking his own life.

The victim in this incident is the same individual involved in the pending criminal case against Santana. On September 7, 2021, she reported multiple instances of sexual assault by Santana. He was arrested and charged with six counts of aggravated rape of a child on that same day.

During his arraignment in Malden District Court, bail was set at $30,000 with conditions including GPS monitoring, no contact with the victim, and no unsupervised contact with minors. The victim also had an active restraining order against Santana. The trial was scheduled for July 29, 2024.

The investigation is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, and Acton Police.
