Ginnie Springs Shooting : 2 shootings reported at Ginnie Springs, Florida over Memorial Day weekend

Deputies responded to two separate shootings at Ginnie Springs in Gilchrist County over Memorial Day weekend, resulting in the temporary closure of the popular recreational area.

The Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) reported that its deputies responded to the shootings during the overnight hours of Friday, May 24, and Saturday, May 25.

On Monday morning, the sheriff's office refrained from providing further details about the incidents, including the status of any suspects, to "maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigations."

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is also involved in the investigation.

Early Sunday morning, Ginnie Springs announced on Facebook that it was temporarily closed and would update the public on its reopening.

Later, the GCSO posted on Facebook that it was searching for a woman connected to an attempted murder investigation that occurred between Devil's Spring and Tube Launch inside Ginnie Springs.

Deputies responded to the area around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Both Gilchrist County deputies and the FDLE were present at Ginnie Springs on Sunday.

The GCSO did not release additional information about the attempted murder investigation or the circumstances leading up to it, but stated they were "seeking to identify any witnesses and one outstanding subject involved."

Authorities described the woman as being in her early 20s with long braids and light-tinted contacts, wearing circular hoop earrings, multiple rings, and a green or dark-colored bathing suit. Deputies did not identify the woman but noted she was last seen at Ginnie Springs on Saturday, walking toward the park exit. It is unclear if she has been found.
