Emily Hogye, an accomplished equestrian vaulter and lifelong horse enthusiast, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep due to heart failure at the age of 28. Since her birth, Emily's life revolved around family, education, and her deep passion for horses, culminating in notable achievements both nationally and internationally.
From a young age, Emily immersed herself in the world of vaulting, following in the footsteps of her equestrian parents. Her journey began at the age of three with the Pegasus Vaulting Club, where she honed her skills on Rosie, a chestnut Quarter Horse, and her Shetland pony, Crystal. Emily's dedication to vaulting led her to remarkable successes, including winning bronze and gold medals at the World Vaulting Championships and the Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games respectively.
Beyond vaulting, Emily was a versatile equestrian, achieving a C1 rating in Pony Club and excelling in various western and English disciplines, with a particular passion for Dressage. Her petite stature and unwavering determination made her adept at training ponies and smaller horses, a skill she eagerly shared as a riding instructor and vaulting coach.
Residing in Ben Lomond, California, Emily, alongside her mother Mona Hogye, managed Brookside Vaulters, where they mentored young riders and provided riding lessons. Emily's commitment to her equestrian pursuits remained unwavering as she balanced her responsibilities with her studies, graduating with top honors from Ocean Grove Charter School and currently pursuing her academic and professional aspirations at Cabrillo College.
Emily's vaulting accomplishments, including multiple national championships and awards, underscored her talent and dedication to her sport. As she pursued her dreams of competing at the elite international level, Emily also harbored aspirations of representing the United States in other equestrian disciplines, including the Olympics.
Outside of her equestrian pursuits, Emily enjoyed a range of hobbies, including gardening, outdoor adventures, and fitness activities, embodying a zest for life that extended beyond the stables. Her vaulting partner, Bosco Allegro, a cherished Iberian Warmblood, symbolized her dedication and passion for her sport.
Emily Hogye's legacy as a gifted equestrian and mentor will endure, inspiring future generations to pursue their dreams with the same fervor and dedication that defined her remarkable life.
