American Fork Accident Today : 1 dead in crash that has closed SB I-15 in Utah County

An accident that occurred on Thursday morning on southbound Interstate 15 resulted in the death of one person.

This information was provided by Lieutenant Cam Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol. He stated that a white Chevrolet Cobalt was driving close to the Pleasant Grove Boulevard exit when it lost control and drove to the left.

It was a pickup truck that was pulling a trailer that was loaded with a forklift that collided with the Cobalt after it had slid sideways.

The driver of the Cobalt was transported to a nearby hospital, where they lost their life later on. Troopers from the state have not been able to identify the driver.

It was reported by Roden that the driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, while a passenger in the truck did not sustain any injuries.

During the time that investigators are present and personnel are able to clear the route, the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 are closed at 500 East in American Fork. According to Roden's estimation, the shutdown would continue until Thursday at noon.

At the intersection of Pleasant Grove and 2000 North in Lehi, the flow of traffic had come to a complete halt. Additionally, State Street is experiencing significant delays across the entirety of northern Utah County, with 500 East in American Fork and Lehi Main Street seeing congestion close to Interstate 15.
