Scooty rider dies, children injured in road accident in Delhi

In a tragic incident in New Delhi, a scooty rider lost his life, while five others, including three children, were injured in a collision involving a private school bus. The deceased, identified as Abhishek Jain, hailed from the Brahmpuri area.

The accident unfolded around 7:30 a.m. near I TO, as the bus, ferrying 42 children to school in central Delhi, collided with a scooty and an auto-rickshaw.

Prompt action followed the mishap, with authorities from the IP Estate police station swiftly responding to the scene.

The injured were promptly transported to the hospital, where Abhishek Jain was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.

Investigations revealed that the bus driver failed to halt at the ITO red light, leading to the collision.

Among the injured, both the auto-rickshaw driver, Mahesh Kumar, and the bus driver, Shiv Kumar, are undergoing treatment at LNJP hospital.

Additionally, three school children, aged between 11 and 15, sustained minor injuries from the abrupt braking of the bus.

A senior police official confirmed that a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) is being registered as investigations continue.

The incident underscores the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and exercising caution on the roads, particularly during school commute hours.

It's a somber reminder of the consequences of negligence and the need for heightened vigilance to ensure road safety for all.
