Catholic priest dies in Tarkwa-Bogoso road accident

The untimely death of Fr. Samuel Ebuley Afful, a Catholic priest based in Shama, Western Region, has left a community in mourning. 

The tragic accident on the Tarkwa-Bogoso road on April 9 not only claimed his life but also resulted in injuries to several others, including Most Rev. Joseph Affrifa-Agyekum, Bishop of Koforidua, Very Rev. Fr. Francis Kobina Arthur, Very Rev. Fr. Albert Amakye, and Very Rev. Fr. Philip Tandoh.

Fr. Afful was on his way to Enchi for a yearly gathering with his classmates when the accident occurred. 

The news of his passing was confirmed by Most Rev. John Baptist, Bishop of the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese, in a statement shared on social media platforms. 

While Most Rev. Affrifa-Agyekum and Very Rev. Fr. Arthur have been discharged from the Bogoso Government Hospital after receiving initial treatment, Very Rev. Fr. Tandoh, Very Rev. Fr. Amakye, and the Bishop’s driver required further medical attention and were transferred to Tarkwa Municipal Hospital.

The loss of Fr. Afful is deeply felt by both his colleagues and the community he served. As a dedicated priest, his contributions to the spiritual and social fabric of his parishioners' lives will be remembered and cherished. 

The accident serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing each moment with loved ones.

The Catholic community, along with Fr. Afful's family and friends, mourns his passing and offers prayers for the swift recovery of those injured in the accident.
