Zac Efron assured fans he was "happy and healthy" after being hospitalized over the weekend following a swimming accident. Representatives of the 36-year-old actor informed TMZ that he had a “minor swimming accident” at a villa in Ibiza on Friday.
Efron was taken to the hospital “as a precautionary measure,” but was released the next day and is reportedly “completely fine.” A source told TMZ that Efron was discovered in the swimming pool by two staff members at the mansion who pulled him out of the water.
Despite the scare, Efron seemed to be in good spirits, posting an Instagram story on Sunday with the caption: “Happy and healthy – thanks for the well wishes.”
Efron had been enjoying a European getaway in recent weeks, with sightings in St. Tropez, Mykonos, and Paris. At the beginning of the weekend, he made an appearance on stage at a concert in Ibiza with DJ Martin Garrix.
Efron first rose to fame in 2006 for his role as Troy Bolton in the *High School Musical* trilogy. He later starred in popular films such as *17 Again*, *The Greatest Showman*, and portrayed Ted Bundy in Netflix’s crime drama *Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile*. His Netflix travel show, *Down to Earth with Zac Efron*, won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2021.
