Ryan Comas USCG Obituary : Ryan Comas Death : United States Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer Ryan Comas Died By Suicide

U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Survival Technician 3rd Class Ryan Comas tragically passed away by suicide on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. A native of Philadelphia, Ryan was a member of the Father Judge Swim Team, graduating in the Class of 2017. 


His time on the swim team showcased his dedication, teamwork, and resilience—qualities that would define his later career. Following high school, Ryan chose a life of service, enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard where he excelled in his role as an Aviation Survival Technician, often referred to as a "rescue swimmer." 

His assignment to Air Station Kodiak in Alaska placed him at one of the most challenging and critical postings in the Coast Guard. Ryan's commitment to saving lives and aiding those in distress was evident in his daily duties. 

He trained rigorously, honing his skills to perform in extreme conditions, ready to respond to emergencies at a moment's notice. Despite the demands and pressures of his role, Ryan's colleagues remember him as a dedicated and skilled professional who brought a sense of camaraderie and support to his team.

The news of his passing has deeply affected all who knew him, especially his former teammates and coaches from the Father Judge Swim Team and the Little Flower Swimming family. 

They recall Ryan not only as a talented swimmer but also as a "good kid" with a kind heart and a strong sense of duty. His loss is a poignant reminder of the mental health struggles faced by many in demanding and high-stress professions.

Ryan Comas's legacy will endure through the memories of his bravery, kindness, and the lives he touched both in his civilian and military communities. His passing underscores the importance of mental health awareness and the need for robust support systems for those who serve.
