Keith Berger Death : Skier Keith Berger Obituary : Backwater Gamblers Waterski Team Member Keith Berger Is Dead

It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear teammate, Keith Berger.

Keith was a valued member of the Backwater Gamblers for what feels like 15 too-short years. He held many roles on our team—boat driver, coach, and bonfire extraordinaire—but above all, he was a leader. Keith's greatest passion was driving and coaching skiers as they learned new tricks.

He and his wife, Bridget Berger, even founded our first junior team. His dedication to helping each individual grow, both on and off the water, was unparalleled.

Keith was an incredible boat driver, trusted to pull off high-speed and precision acts. He aspired to become our lead driver and, one day, drive for Team USA. I have no doubt he would have achieved these goals.

Keith contributed significantly to site renovations, boat detailing, and driving for our shows and practices, but his impact on our Backwater family was even greater. He brought us closer together, forging a stronger bond than ever.

One of his favorite sayings was, "Some of our best memories, and some we have to be reminded of, were made beyond the gate of the ski site." If you were fortunate enough to join him around a bonfire or on a pontoon ride, you know how special those memories are.

Outside of the Backwater Gamblers, Keith was a husband, father, son, John Deere colleague, Packers fan, and loyal friend. He enjoyed fixing up motorcycles, working on his boats, spending time with his two children and wife, and cruising local rivers on his pontoon boat with friends.

Keith was a pillar of the Backwater Gamblers and will be deeply missed. We will hold a memorial show for Keith on Sunday, June 9th.

We ask our fans to fill the stands with Green and Gold, John Deere apparel, Packers gear, or Backwater attire. Let’s pack the stands to honor Keith and his family.
