Jan Vandersloot Obituary: Jan Vandersloot Cause of Death: Former Gonzaga star and WNBA veteran Courtney’s Mother Jan Vandersloot Dies After Cancer Battle

Jan Vandersloot, the mother of former Gonzaga star and WNBA veteran Courtney Vandersloot, passed away this past weekend after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Diagnosed with advanced multiple myeloma in July 2022, Jan fought bravely against the disease, supported by her family and the broader basketball community.

The news of her passing has deeply affected those who knew her and her daughter, Courtney, who has been a standout player both at Gonzaga University and in the WNBA.

Jan was a resident of Kent, Washington, and her strength and resilience were an inspiration to many.

In a heartfelt tribute, a moment of silence was held to honor Jan Vandersloot's memory before a recent game.
The announced sellout crowd of 10,955 then erupted into a chant of “SLOOT! SLOOT!”, a powerful gesture reflecting the respect and admiration for Courtney Vandersloot and her late mother.

This emotional moment underscored the strong connection between Courtney and her fans, as well as the profound impact Jan Vandersloot had on the community.
