It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Chris Pence, a cherished resident of Chicago, IL, and a beloved member of Team World Vision. Chris was a dear friend, devoted husband, loving father, and an enthusiastic runner whose presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Chris Pence was known for his unwavering support and boundless energy, qualities that endeared him to his fellow runners at Parkview. For those who ran with Parkview over the years, Chris was more than just a teammate; he was a relentless cheerleader. Week after week, he welcomed runners back to the Parkview patio with his trademark megaphone, offering encouragement and joy to everyone.

Team alumni will fondly remember the joy and excitement Chris brought to their long runs. His alter ego, DJ Pence, became a beloved figure, sending runners off on their challenging 18 and 20-milers with rallying cries and uplifting tunes. His ability to inspire and motivate others was truly remarkable, and his legacy as a passionate and dedicated runner will be remembered by all who had the privilege of running alongside him.

In honor of Chris Pence's memory and his love for running, all current and former Team World Vision runners are invited to gather on the Parkview patio at 7 am on Saturday. There will be a short talk followed by a 60-minute walk/run, allowing everyone to remember and celebrate Chris through the activity he cherished so deeply. This gathering is not only a tribute to Chris’s life but also a chance for his community to come together and support one another during this difficult time.

Chris leaves behind a loving family, including his wife and children, who are undoubtedly heartbroken by this tremendous loss. The outpouring of support from friends, teammates, and the broader running community is a testament to the profound impact Chris had on so many lives. His memory will live on through the countless stories and the enduring spirit he instilled in those around him.
