Brian Cummings, a cherished member of the East Rochester Total Sports Experience, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024. His sudden departure has left his family, friends, and community in deep sorrow, but his memory continues to live on through the lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind.
Brian was predeceased by his grandparents Spencer and Patricia Cummings and Roger Phillips. He is survived by a loving family that cherished him deeply. The love of his life, Abbey, and their three children—Lincoln (8), Novalee (5), and Remy (3)—were the center of his world. His grandmother, Susan Porto, and his parents, Paul and Lisa Cummings, and Mark and Lisa Rathbun, along with his siblings and their families, shared an unbreakable bond with him.
Brian's siblings included Abby and Chris Hubbard (with their children Oliver, Chloe, and Emma), Alex and Carolyn Cummings (with their children Audrey, Claire, and Sean), Sara and Ben Blujus, Joey Rathbun and Chelsea Greason (with their children Teddy and Levi), Josh Rathbun and Caralie Fennessey, and Marni Rathbun. Brian was also loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Brian was known for his passionate involvement in the East Rochester Total Sports Experience. His dedication to sports and community engagement was evident in everything he did. He inspired many with his commitment to fostering a positive environment for both young athletes and seasoned sports enthusiasts.
Beyond his professional and sports-related achievements, Brian was a devoted family man. His greatest joy came from spending time with his wife and children. Whether it was coaching his children’s sports teams, participating in family outings, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home, Brian’s love for his family was unwavering.
Brian's involvement extended beyond his immediate family to his broader community. He was known for his friendly demeanor, willingness to help others, and his enthusiasm for making a difference. His contributions to local events and initiatives demonstrated his commitment to building a strong, supportive community.
Brian’s passing is a profound loss to all who knew him. A funeral service to honor his memory will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11 am at Most Holy Rosary Church in Syracuse. Calling hours will take place on Friday from 4-7 pm at the church, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather and pay their respects. The burial will be private, allowing his family a moment of peace and reflection.
Though Brian Cummings is no longer with us, his legacy of love, dedication, and passion for life will continue to inspire those who knew him. His memory lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless individuals he impacted through his work and community involvement. As we remember Brian, let us celebrate the love and joy he brought into the world and strive to carry forward his spirit of kindness and dedication in our own lives.
