A 45-year-old woman from Mendon, identified as Melissa Hallack, tragically lost her life in a traffic crash on Thursday morning, as reported by the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.
The incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. on Silver Street, north of Pinhook Road in Mendon Township. Deputies were dispatched to the scene of the two-vehicle collision.
According to preliminary investigations, a 24-year-old man from Reading was driving northbound on Silver Street when he collided head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the struck vehicle, Melissa Hallack, was pronounced dead at the scene, highlighting the severity of the impact.
The male driver was transported to Bronson Hospital to treat the injuries he sustained in the crash. Authorities believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor, and the driver’s name is being withheld pending the results of the ongoing investigation.
