Matt Splinter Arrested Kingston ON : Riley Orr, Juliette Cote and Kaila Bearman Killed In Bobs Lake Boat Accident

A tragic boating accident on Bobs Lake, north of Kingston, Ontario, claimed three lives and injured five others over the Victoria Day long weekend. The collision occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on May 18 in the Bucks Bay area when a speed boat collided with a fishing boat. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating the incident.

The three victims, aged between 21 and 23, were identified as Riley Orr, Juliette Cote, and Kaila Bearman. All three were graduates of high schools in the Limestone School District. In a statement to Global News, the district expressed its condolences and confirmed that support services are being provided to students affected by the tragedy.

The Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association held a moment of silence before a baseball game on Tuesday to honor the victims. Paul Pennell, the association’s athletic coordinator, noted that all three victims were former student-athletes. Orr was a pitcher for Sydenham High School's Golden Eagles, Cote played field hockey and soccer at LaSalle Secondary School, and Bearman, a Regiopolis-Notre Dame Catholic High School graduate, had been involved in volleyball and soccer.

Pennell stated, "It’s a sad day for the association. We’re going to honour these three individuals throughout the week with our soccer championships tonight and tomorrow. These three will be in our thoughts and prayers throughout the week and to the end of the season." The accident has deeply affected the community, and various events are being held to remember and honor the lives lost.

Bill Dickson, the media coordinator with OPP East Region, confirmed that several others were transported to the hospital, with one seriously injured person being airlifted by Ornge air ambulance. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no charges have been laid so far. The OPP has not provided updates on the conditions of the five injured individuals, but they have expressed their condolences to the families affected by the tragedy.

The accident underscores the dangers associated with boating and has prompted the community to come together in mourning and support for the victims' families.
