Shadrick Johnson, aged 35, a resident of , has tragically been identified as the individual who lost his life in a scooter accident occurring on Monday.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood confirmed that Johnson was pronounced deceased at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center around 5:05 p.m. on Monday, with his cause of death attributed to blunt force trauma injuries. A toxicology report is currently awaited for further insights.
The incident occurred when Peoria police responded to a collision between an electric scooter and a vehicle at the intersection of Arago and Grinnell streets around 2 p.m. on Monday.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Johnson, while traveling west on Grinnell Street, failed to observe a stop sign and collided with the vehicle.
Fortunately, the driver of the vehicle, an adult woman, emerged uninjured from the collision.
However, the driver has been cited for various offenses, including suspended registration, driving under the influence, and illegal transportation of alcohol.
This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and exercising caution while navigating roadways.
